(Preah Sihanouk): On May 9, 2025, the Consumer Protection Competition and Fraud Repression Directorate General of the Ministry of Commerce as the Secretariat and Enforcement body of the National Commission for Consumer Protection (NCCP) and Cambodia Competition Commission (CCC), in collaboration with the RCEP Implementation Support Program (RISP) under the Regional Trade for Development (RT4D) project supported by the governments of Australia and New Zealand, organized a dissemination workshop on “Implementation of Competition Law, Consumer Protection Law and Related Regulations” at Independence Hotel, Preah Sihanouk Province, presided over by H.E. KIM Meassokseiha, Director General of CCF Directorate General along with H.E. MANG Sineth, Deputy Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, and Ms. HENG Molyaneth, Country Manager of the Regional Trade for Development (RT4D).
The participants of the above workshop were approximately 170 participants, including the representatives from Chamber of Commerce, Cambodian Women Entrepreneurs Association, Young Entrepreneurs Association, Cambodian Small and Medium Enterprises Association, private sector, organizations and departments around Preah Sihanouk province, the Preah Sihanouk Provincial Prosecutor’s Office, the Department of Commerce and CCF branches in Preah Sihanouk, Koh Kong, Kampong Speu, Kampot, Kep, Takeo, Kandal Province, and Phnom Penh as well as, vendors, women led businesses, disadvantaged groups, professors and students etc.
The workshop aimed to raise awareness among key stakeholders above about the Competition Law and the Consumer Protection Law, and to promote dialogue, facilitate a forum for public and private sector participation to address challenges and identify needs for support related to law enforcement, in particular, to exchange, share good experiences, find solutions to challenges and continue to communicate, and to promote compliance and implementation of the laws and regulations efficiently and effectively. It is worth noting that, today’s workshop is the 3rd Regional Workshop in 2025 under the RT4D Project in which inputs challenges and outputs of the three workshops will be collected and reviewed to launch one training course, which is the final activity under the RT4D project, for enforcement officers of the CCF Directorate General of the Ministry of Commerce, to promote transparent and highly effective law enforcement.
