PHAN Oun, delegate of the Royal Government of Cambodia in charge as Director General of Consumer Protection, Competition and Fraud Repression (CCF) Directorate-General of the Ministry of Commerce and H.E. Oknha Nguon Meng Tech, Director General of Cambodia Chamber of Commerce \u201cCCC\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop was attended by His Excellency, Lok Chumteav, Neak Oknha, Lok Oknha, Ladies and Gentlemen, about 100 members of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce at the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing the Workshop, His Excellency Oknha Nguon Meng Tech, Director General of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce instructed the entire workshop to pay attention on key articles of the law, which were commented by speakers from the CCF Directorate-General. This law is such a strong fence that can help those who are running businesses legally, and they are integrity receives support from the Royal Government and the CCF Directorate-General of the Ministry of Commerce. As matter of fact, the right business owner could run their business activities with fearless and win over anti-competitive activities. In this fruitful workshop, it\u2019s also provided opportunities to all members of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce to raise their opinions and questions to discuss and solve some raised matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the same time, His Excellency Oknha, the Director General, also requested the relevant authorities, especially the investigation officers of the CCF Directorate-General strive to fulfill duties and guide all members of the Chamber of Commerce together to implement the law properly in order to avoid being punished by law enforcement officers, which leads to the loss of interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On that occasion, H.E. Phan Oun, delegate of the Royal Government of Cambodia in charge as Director General of Consumer Protection, Competition and Fraud Repression (CCF) Directorate-General of the Ministry of Commerce had delivered the purpose of running this workshop. It was raise awareness of the law, and prevent any misconduct by the business community, the authority of the investigation officers, the rights of consumers and obligations of the business community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today’s workshop on disseminating on Competition Law and Consumer Protection Law is the 18th workshop had organized by the CCF Directorate-General in collaboration with the CCC. Overall, these laws have already been disseminated to businesses across the country, but the CCF and CCC are willing to continue to disseminate these laws further in Cambodia, especially in Phnom Penh, where business activity is on the rise. This workshop is an important forum to promote consumer protection and competition, as well as to share good experiences with each other and discuss on new issues that are emerging related to Competition law and Consumer Protection Law enforcement in this several times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Competition and Consumer Protection affairs are intertwined and complementary. In fact, when a business engages in consumer fraud, the Consumer Protection Law will be applied, and when a business conspiracy sets a price for selling to a customer, this activity falls within the scope of the Competition Law which refers to the enhancement of effective protection of consumer interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a secretariat of the Cambodia Competition Commission \u201cCCC\u201d And the National Commission for Consumer Protection “NCCP”, the CCF Directorate-General is Responsible for implementing the above two laws. Along with the implementation of these two laws, the CCF Directorate-General also focuses on mainstreaming a culture of fair competition and protecting consumers through advertising, as well as raising awareness among stakeholders, including the business community (as in today’s program), Government institutions, private institutions, the judiciary, development partners, the media, and public on the provisions of the law, and shared responsibilities to ensure that they see benefits of competition and consumer protection in national economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
